does this suggest that those that are enlightened, or those who see the light, lose their faith?
I would suggest that faith lives on fear and fear alone. "No atheists in a fox hole." A fox hole is probably not the best place for rational thought. A dark place, where faith thrives, only to die when the soldier survives to realize it is not god he believes in, it is just death he fears.
